⚠️Why is Outlook warning of a possible malicious link?

Outlook is known for being very precautious when it comes to external links. We highly recommend you use gmails, yahoo or any other email provider.

Why is this happening?

Lately, Outlook has implemented stricter security filters, specifically for external downloadable links.

External downloadable links are basically when you put a link inside of an email that leads to downloading something from another site.

This is due to the numerous security vulnerabilities they’ve recently faced which has lead them to mark many links as potentially malicious by default.

Unlike Gmail, which doesn’t seem to have the same issue, Outlook often flags downloads above a certain size as a precautionary measure.

What are we doing to resolve this?

We have already applied for whitelisting, but we haven’t received a response yet. In the meantime, you can reassure your customer that the link is completely safe. There should be an option to "Continue" the download despite the warning.

To prevent issues with customers we highly recommend informing your customers about this Outlook-specific issue so they feel confident proceeding with their download and understand what is going on.
